Engineering Surveying Course
SISV has appointed a training co-ordinator, GPS Lands Pte Ltd to conduct the abovementioned course.
The Engineering Surveying Course enables participants to acquire knowledge in setting out data for road construction, determining earthwork quantities and measurements of precise vertical heights. Participants will also learn the different methods for topographic mapping and techniques for transferring azimuth and height datum in underground surveying.
NOTE: THE ENGINEERING SURVEYING COURSE IS ONE OF THE PRE-REQUISITES FOR ENTRY TO THE SISV CADASTRAL SURVEYING COURSE.
For enquires, please contact Manisah (SISV) at 6222 3030 or Charles Chai (GPS Land) at 6354 5950.
The course contents cover various engineering aspects of surveying from a wide variety of applications found within the construction industry.
SCHEDULE OF COURSE
The lecture topics include:
- Precise Levelling
- Topographic Mapping
- Curve Setting
- Earthwork Quantities
- Construction Technology
- Underground Surveying
The practical topics include:
- Precise Level Assignment
- Mini Project on road construction survey
- Construction Technology
- Use of underground surveying equipment
Participants undertaking the mini-project do a topographic map over an area, and then calculate and peg a circular road curve & vertical curve, and draw the relevant longitudinal and cross sections and learn about earthwork quantities. A precise levelling run is also done to give the participants an understanding of the accuracies achievable in establishing vertical heights.
The syllabus and structure are subject to revision without prior notice to reflect current changes in technique or technology.
- Minimum of 1 GCE "O" Level, OR
- Candidates who have completed the SISV Basic Land Surveying Course, OR
- Mature candidates employed in the Construction or Surveying industry may have to demonstrate by way of Interview and/or Field test to the LSCSC Panel, that they have acquired the necessary basic surveying skills.
The course comprises 11 lectures and 7 practical sessions. There is an examination at the end of the course. Successful candidates will be awarded a "Certificate of Successful Completion" at the end of the whole course.
Total Course Duration: 66 Hours (2 weeknights of 3 hours each & 1 Saturday of 5 hours - over 6 weeks)
