REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP

The general conditions of admission to and membership of the Institute shall be that no person shall be admitted or elected to membership unless he is at the time of such admission:

  1. In private practice as a Land Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Valuer and General Practice Surveyor, or

  2. The principal or a partner or director of a firm practising as a Professional Land Surveyor, Professional Quantity Surveyor, Professional Valuer and General Practice Surveyor, or

  3. The employee of a partnership or firm or individual practising as Professional Land Surveyor, Professional Quantity Surveyor, Professional Valuer and General Practice Surveyor, or

  4. In the employment as a Land Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Valuer and General Practice Surveyor of any Government or municipal or local or other authority or public body, or

  5. In the employment as a Land Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Valuer and General Practice Surveyor of a firm, actively engaged in the design, construction, development management or valuation of building or engineering structures or projects, or

  6. A person actively engaged in the function of a Land Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Valuer and General Practice Surveyor being a director or an employee of a private company, the primary object of which is Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Validation and General Practice Surveying, or

  7. A professionally qualified Land Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Valuer or a General Practice Surveyor engaged as a full-time educational lecturer.
ADMISSION TO MEMBERSHIP

Admission to Membership is by examination only.

  1. The Institute conducts technical and practical examinations when necessary. However, the Council may grant exemption from examinations to persons who are professionally qualifies in comparable examinations conducted by public authorities or Institutions of Land Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors, Valuation and General Practice Surveyors.

  2. Two classes of intermediate membership are provided, namely students and probationers, to enable the Institute to advise and guide candidates for membership during their study and/ or training.
