HONORARY FELLOW

Every Honorary Fellow shall be a person who by reason of his position, experience or eminence may be able to render assistance in promoting the objects of the Institute.

FELLOW

MEMBER eligible for transfer to FELLOW shall:

  1. be more than 35 years of age;

  2. have acquired practical knowledge of Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying or Valuation & General Practice Surveying in one or other of its branches;

  3. have had not less than 5 years of professional experience as a principal or in a senior executive position;

  4. have been a MEMBER for a period of 2 years; and
  • either have held office in the Council or Divisional Committees for a minimum of 2 terms to the satisfaction of the Council;
  • OR in view of the Council, be of eminence in the profession Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying or Valuation & General Practice Surveying in Singapore;
  1. passed the examination or examinations required for election to that class or such other examinations accepted by the Council in lieu thereof;

  2. submit an organisation chart specifying their position in their place of work and a summary of their nature of work.

MEMBER

Persons eligible for class of Members shall be at least 21 years of age, engaged in the practice or teaching of Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Valuation or General Practice Surveying and shall have:

  1. Passed the examinations prescribed by the Institute, and

  2. Spent a total of not less than five (5) years in the technical and practical study of Land Surveying in a course or office approved by the Institute, including at least two (2) years of post-graduate professional practice, or

  3. Spent a total of not less than five (5) years in the technical and practical study of Quantity Surveying in a course or office approved by the Institute, including at least two (2) years of post-graduate professional practice, or

  4. Spent a total of not less than five (5) years in the technical and practical study of Valuation and General Practice Surveying in a course or office approved by the Institute, including at least two (2) years of post-graduate professional practice in Singapore, or

  5. Council may accept approved external qualifications and/ or practical experience in lieu of the whole or part or parts of the prescribed examinations for Members.

PROBATIONER

Persons eligible for admission to Probationer Membership shall have passed an examination acceptable by the Council and are receiving such practical training as may be approved by the Council.

Applicant who joins the Institute as Probationer at the time of application is required to:

  • keep a Diary and Log Book for 24 months;
  • work under the supervision of a Fellow or Member (with at least 7 years' experience) of the Institute;
  • submit the Diary at the end of every 6 months for inspection; and
  • pass an Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) interview.

Once the applicant has been approved as a Probationer, he/ she should obtain a Log and Diary from the Instituteâs office at a cost to be prescribed by the Institute from time to time.

The Log and Diary should be submitted to the Institute for inspection at every six-month interval. Upon completion of the Log and Diary, the Probationer is required to attend an interview for the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) at a fee to be prescribed by the Institute from time to time.

STUDENT MEMBER
  1. Person eligible for admission to Student Membership shall not be less than 17 years of age and shall be:

  2. Persons of school leaving standard approved by the Council of the institute ("Council") or having passed an examination of similar standard approved by Council and engaged in the learning of the theory and practice of the profession of Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Valuation and General Practice Surveying, and

  3. Attending full time at a University, Institute of Technology, or Polytechnic approved by Council, or

  4. Employed by a Member of a recognised Institution of Land Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors or Valuers who in the opinion of Council upholds a sufficiently high standard for the training of a student, and attending part-time studies at a University, Institute of Technology or Polytechnic approved by Council or studying with the approval of Council for the prescribed examinations of the Institute.

  5. A Student Member who is studying for examination by the Institute and who has qualifies by external examination in any comparable subject of the prescribed examinations may be granted exemption from such subject at the discretion of Council.

  6. Students are advised to apply for Student Membership at the outset of their training as Conditions of Membership and Examinations may be changed from time to time. Students who are not members cannot be advised or guided in their studies by the Institute. Students who are already members at the time any change occurs are permitted a choice of complying with the new conditions or continuing with those in force at the time they obtained membership. This privilege cannot be granted to non-members.

TECH MEMBER
Persons eligible for admission shall be at least 21 years of age, engaged in the practice or teaching of Land Surveying, Quantity Surveying, Valuation or General Practice Surveying and shall have :
  1. a relevant diploma accredited by SISV with 1 year SISV recognized work experience; or
  2. a relevant non-SISV accredited diploma with 2 years SISV recognized work experience

Membership with the relevant professional body such as Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV) demonstrates to employers, colleagues and clients that you have achieved the necessary qualfication and experience. With the Institute's ongoing commitment to professionalism and excellence, it is therefore a mark of quality, competence and commitment in keeping abreast of the industry's development.

Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers is a highly recognised, non-profit organisation with nearly 1500 members in Singapore and across the globe. The Institute’s members encompass several diverse industry sectors including construction, land surveying, valuation and property management. SISV has also a growing influence in the Asia Pacific region through its affiliation with several organisations around the world, including HKIS , AIQS, NZIS and RICS.
